Recently, two current residents of Michael’s House, and Ludlow High School graduates, travelled back to their high school to share their life experiences with freshman health classes. The residents were open and honest about their struggles in high school and the subsequent struggles they faced in adulthood.

During their conversations current LHS students opened up and shared some of the struggles they face daily. One resident shared that it was an honor to be able to return to his high school and tell his story, sharing, “It was a very powerful moment in my life, that I will never forget.”

Director of Michaels House, Courtney Rex,  believes, as part of the recovery process, it is important that all residents give back to their community, stating, “ I am very proud of each of them for facing their fears and walking back into your old high school to share their story.”

Rex continued, “I wish more schools would reach out to us for visits. I believe that if we can help students before they start using drugs or alcohol,  we will leave a lasting imprint forever.”
